Thomas Jefferson called the New England Township the greatest invention of man for the preservation of self-government. In this kind of Government the people aren’t deceived by delusion that Government is some kind of mysterious power that magically possesses unlimited funds to be used for the “benefit of the people.” In the Township everything is done under the watchful eye of the people.
